Impressive organic growth, balance sheet repositioning and strong capital deployment activities of the company were primary factors behind the growth. The Company primary business is to contract its ultra-deepwater drilling rigs, related equipment and work crews, primarily on a dayrate basis, to drill wells for its customers. The Company is primarily focused on the ultra-deepwater market. The Company generally consider ultra-deepwater to begin at water depths of more than 7,500 feet and to extend to the maximum water depths, in which rigs are capable of drilling, which is approximately 12,000 feet.

The Company operates four drillships and has four drillships under construction, two of which are under customer contract. In connection with the Restructuring, the Company Predecessor was contributed to a wholly owned subsidiary of the Company by a subsidiary of Quantum Pacific International Limited.

Advisors' Opinion:
  • [By Ben Levisohn]

Land drillers / pressure pumpers may be approaching valuation support levels and could be triggered to consolidate if current weakness persists. The theme could nevertheless be premature in offshore drilling as larger players (Diamond Offshore Drilling (DO)/Transocean/Seadrill) are still addressing dividend concerns while smaller companies (Atwood Oceanics (ATW)/Pacific Drilling (PACD)) still trade close to replacement value.

  • [By Aaron Levitt]

Management recently announced a hefty 50% hike in its quarterly dividend to 37.5 cents per share of NE stock. And with a 4.8% dividend yield, NE stock is now one of the best-paying dividend stocks in the energy sector.

Dividend Stocks To Buy #5 — Pacific Drilling (PACD)

    Estimated Dividend Yield: 6.5%

  • [By Ben Levisohn]

On the surface, offshore drilling stocks appear inexpensive with multiples at the low end of historical ranges and many stocks trading below book values. While contrarian and deep value players are beginning to nibble, we believe the offshore floating rig companies are still in the early innings of a cyclical downturn in utilization and dayrates. After a decade of good times, the deepwater drilling rig market is facing a multiyear down-cycle. Historically, most offshore drilling cycles have been short-lived as there have usually been sudden demand shocks that tend to self correct relatively quickly. This time, it is more of a new rig supply problem compounded by a moderation in offshore spending from the suddenly eturn drivenmultinational major oil companies. That means this down-cycle should be more drawn out than usual. Specifically, we think the downturn will take about three years to play out with average floater day-rates falling about 25% with over 60 floating rigs needing to be stacked (either warm stacked or cold stacked). More importantly for investors, we think consensus 2016 floater estimates (on average) are still about 25% too high. Put another way, earnings multiples are not as attractive as some now think, in our view. Obviously, the lower-end, older floating assets will be hit the hardest. While everyone loses in this environment, we are more comfortable in owning companies with higher-quality assets that also carry higher floater contract coverage, as we expect this to provide relative safety during this downturn. Specifically, we relatively favor Ocean Rig UDW (ORIG), Pacific Drilling (PACD), and Rowan, given their high-specification exposure. Of course, this downturn is not limited to the floater side of the offshore arena. Next week, we will detail our expectations for the timing and magnitude of the utilization and dayrate declines for the offshore jackup space.

  • [By Roberto Pedone]

Pacific Drilling (PACD) is an international offshore drilling contractor committed to becoming the preferred provider of ultra-deepwater drilling services to the oil and natural gas industry through the use of high-specification rigs. This stock closed up 1% to $9.94 in Thursday's trading session.

    Thursday's Range: $9.87-$10.00

    52-Week Range: $8.63-$10.99

    Thursday's Volume: 450,000

    Three-Month Average Volume: 308,772

From a technical perspective, PACD bounced modestly higher here right above its 50-day moving average of $9.67 with above-average volume. This stock has been trending sideways and consolidating for the last five months, with shares moving between $8.89 on the downside and $10.23 on the upside. Shares of PACD are now starting to trend within range of triggering a breakout trade above the upper-end of its recent sideways trading chart pattern. That trade will hit if PACD manages to take out some key overhead resistance levels at $10.14 to $10.23 with high volume.

Traders should now look for long-biased trades in PACD as long as it's trending above its 50-day at $9.81 and then once it sustains a move or close above those breakout levels with volume that hits near or above 308,772 shares. If that breakout triggers soon, then PACD will set up to re-test or possibly take out its next major overhead resistance levels at $10.71 to its 52-week high at $10.99. Any high-volume move above $10.99 will then put its all-time high at $11.47 within range for shares of PACD.

Advisors' Opinion:
  • [By Dan Caplinger]

Moreover, highly speculative miners have also done badly. NovaGold Resources (NYSEMKT: NG  ) represented a $130 million investment for Paulson as of March 31, and it has lost more than 55% year-to-date as investors question whether the company will successfully get its Donlin Gold project in Alaska off the ground.

  • [By Holly LaFon] ref="http://www.gurufocus.com/StockBuy.php?GuruName=John+Paulson">John Paulson bough 20, 181,818 shares of NovaGold in the first quarter of 2010 at an average of $6 per share; he added 26,200 shares in the third quarter at an average of $9 per share, and 2,746,800 in the fourth quarter at an average of $9 per share. It is not a surprise that Paulson would increase his gold holdings. He said in his 2011 investor letter that y gold fund will top all others. He added:

  • [By Rich Duprey]

The worst performer in the sector was NovaGold Resources (NYSEMKT: NG  ) , which fell 13% yesterday as it scrambles to make sense of its Donlin Gold project in Alaska, the biggest known undeveloped gold deposit anywhere. The joint venture with Barrick has essentially been in limbo since NovaGold's partner said last year it no longer made economic sense to pursue it.

  • [By Riddhi Kharkia]

Since I have touched the topic of metrics, it is worthwhile to note that Twitter monthly active users (MAU) number stands at 57 million as compared to approximately 1.23 billion MAUs for Facebook. Monthly active user growth ticked up just 6% for Twitter on a sequential basis, while monthly active users fell 8% year over year. Even in terms of quarterly results, Facebook was miles ahead of Twitter, which was also a factor behind the sell-off in Twitter stock.

Advisors' Opinion:
  • [By Bryan Murphy]

Had shares of its peers and competitors performed as well, it may not even be worth bringing up. But, Plug Power Inc. (NASDAQ:PLUG) shares have done significantly better than FuelCell Energy Inc. (NASDAQ:FCEL) and Ballard Power Systems Inc. (NASDAQ:BLDP) since the end of March. And, PLUG has performed considerably better than FCEL and BLDP have since mid-August. This is more than "just a little volatility." This is a leader breaking away from the pack after a very long lull. Thing is, there's plenty more room for Plug Power to keep running.

  • [By Ben Eisen]

Shares of Ballard Power Systems Inc. (BLDP) gained 5.2% after the fuel-cell maker said it had acquired patents and patent applications from United Technologies Corp. (UTX) . Why did Weight Watchers International loose weight last Friday? The company reported its fourth straight quarterly sales decline as fewer people attended meetings and bought its products and also projected earnings that trailed analysts' estimates with the blame being placed on new mobile applications and bracelets that track calories thushurting traditional diet companies.

Almost All S&P 500 Gains Happen on a Tuesday: StockTwits

NEW YORK (TheStreet) --Market strategist Ryan Detrick recently shared a remarkable chart.

It shows how important each Tuesday has been to the stock market so far this year. The S&P 500  is down nearly 1% year-to-date, but it would be down much more if it weren't for what has occurred on each Tuesday.

There have been 15 Tuesdays since 2014 started and the S&P 500 has only closed down on two of them. It currently has an average return of roughly 0.55%. Every other day of the week has an average return that is much worse, and negative. Monday, for example, is the worst at -0.25%. Friday is the next worst at -0.22%.

Top 10 Growth Stocks To Own For 2016

The simple fact is that, for some reason we do not have an answer to, Tuesday has been the biggest day to buy. It's kept the market even somewhat buoyant since the start of the year. If we removed all of the gains that have occurred on Tuesday, the S&P 500 would be down a huge 8%: As discussed w @srussolillo, $SPX w/o Tuesday -8.3% YTD. America's Biggest Bank Wants In (On This Truly Free Currency)

Top 5 Low Price Companies For 2016

As we know, most fiscal history has been dominated by a web of central banks.

The central banks are in a race to debase, a trend that's rapidly accelerated over the past decade.

There's a lot of money to be made by issuing money.

After a century of massively inflated fiat currencies worldwide, it's little wonder people have flocked to a totally independent form of new money.

Bitcoin's appearance and meteoric rise have galvanized the market for truly free money.

To quote Sir Richard Branson on CNBC last week, "Whoever was behind Bitcoin was brilliant..."

But the race for control of virtual currencies is heating up...

Understanding the Road to Virtual Currency The precursor to virtual currencies is PayPal, established already 15 years ago.

It has come to dominate the electronic payments space, particularly after it was acquired by eBay in 2002.

The company essentially allows payments and money transfers through the Internet. Consumers and vendors link their bank accounts and/or credit cards to their PayPal accounts in order to send or receive payments.

Fees are charged for processing payments and receiving money, depending on the currency, payment option, countries involved, amounts, and account types.

But PayPal is a payment facilitator rather than a currency, as it uses the Internet to accomplish what's otherwise done through checks, money orders, and wire transfers.

Widespread acceptance of PayPal has moved the service from the edge of the "payment frontier" to the "go-to" source for web-based financial transactions.

The appearance of Bitcoin, however, has meant a quantum leap forward, from facilitator to currency.

Bitcoin Arrives Bitcoin is not issued by any government. It's a peer-to-peer payment system and digital currency that was introduced in 2009 as open source software.

Bitcoin is virtual money, as no actual physical "coins" exist.

They can be purchased using money, but they can also be produced. Users can mine them by employing their own computers to solve complex mathematical algorithms.

When a user pays with Bitcoin, a public transaction log called a blockchain is updated. It's a master list of all transactions worldwide that's chronologically ordered, and its validity is verified through a decentralized system using the Bitcoin protocol.

The beauty of this currency system is that a maximum of just 21 million Bitcoins will ever be produced, and it dramatically reduces the costs of financial transactions.

Without the need for banks, financial services companies or wire agencies, transaction costs can be substantially reduced, freeing up tremendous amounts of capital for far more productive purposes.

Historically Bitcoin has swung widely in value but has settled into something of a trading range recently. At the beginning of 2013, it traded around $15. By late November, it was at about $1,200. Most recently it's traded in the $900's.

As Bitcoin matures and its acceptance grows, it's likely to become a valid form of money.

And that's certainly helped to draw a lot of attention.

On Nov. 18, 2013, the Department of Justice (DOJ) said Bitcoin can be a "legal means of exchange." Bernanke himself even stated in a letter to the Senate panel that Bitcoin "may hold long-term promise, particularly if the innovations promote a faster, more secure, and more efficient payment system."

François R. Velde, senior economist of the Federal Reserve in Chicago, labeled it as "an elegant solution to the problem of creating a digital currency."

Acceptance of the virtual currency for payments is still in its infancy, but it is growing.

Businesses such as Reddit, Virgin Galactic, and Overstock.com now accept Bitcoin, with Zynga now in the testing phase. Even Congressman Steve Stockman, R-Texas, is glad to take Bitcoins as 2014 campaign contributions.

On the other hand, Bitcoin still faces some challenges to its wider acceptance. The U.S. Treasury's anti-money-laundering unit, the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN), sent "industry outreach" letters to several firms. They outlined the potential compliance measures related to Bitcoin businesses.

China's central bank recently banned financial institutions from dealing in Bitcoin, and even BTCChina, the world's largest Bitcoin exchange, has been blocked from accepting yuan renminbi, China's currency.

China knows a thing or two about manipulating currency, so the simple fact that it's reacted like this to Bitcoin gives the virtual currency further credibility. Perhaps the Bank of China sees it as a competitor?

Yet Bitcoin's biggest challenger could well be a new rival... originating from within the banking system itself.

The Banksters Challenge Back Last November, JPMorgan submitted a patent for their own form of digital currency called "Web-Cash."

With $2.46 trillion in assets, America's largest bank has decided to compete head-on with Bitcoin.

Based on its description, Web-Cash is similar to Bitcoin. It's a system to process Internet payments and conduct financial transactions over a payment network. Even its proposed directory sounds comparable to Bitcoin's blockchain.

The biggest difference, of course, is who's behind it. As America's largest bank, JPMorgan naturally has a major stake in preserving the current system of the Federal Reserve. After all, how else would it have gotten so big?

Money permeates our lives, and central banks control its issuance.

That's a power too valuable for the banksters to give up without a fight. So understandably, the Bitcoin phenomenon hasn't gone unnoticed.

The way I see it, though Web-Cash will do its best to compete with Bitcoin, it would bring us no closer to free-market money.

Yet that's where I think the world is ultimately headed.

Who Has the Upper Hand? As I mentioned earlier, the past decade has seen a race to debase currencies by the world's central banks.

The U.S. Dollar is the de facto reserve currency, but it's lost over 95% of its purchasing power since the Federal Reserve was established 100 years ago.

Despite the Fed's recent move to "taper," it's still soaking up bonds worth $900 billion annually at its current pace.

Last April, Japan announced a $1.4 trillion quantitative easing program to double the nation's money supply, in a bid to jumpstart its economy and rid itself of deflation.

Central banks across the globe are suppressing interest rates, buying up mammoth quantities of bonds, or both. Meanwhile, their debts are swelling at a dizzying pace.

Increasingly, average citizens are cluing in on these government shenanigans.

They know that massive debt is what led to the 2008 financial crisis and that piling on even more debt will only worsen the problem.

The next crisis promises to be much worse.

That's why they're actively seeking out alternative currencies that simplify transactions, boast a limited supply, and aren't government-issued. Bitcoin wins on all three points.

Not surprisingly, JPMorgan's Jamie Dimon disagrees, while Sir Richard Branson is clearly of another opinion.

Bitcoin may not be perfect, but then no currency is, and my bet, along with many others, is on it.

Editor's Note: The White House has certainly taken notice of the rise of Bitcoin. In October, President Obama summoned Google chief Eric Schmidt to the Oval Office and asked him point-blank if Bitcoin was "something he has to worry about." The answer is yes. And what's coming could have major implications for global economies, the international monetary system, and your wealth. Click here to continue reading this story.
